Submissions Open
Fictionista Workshop is a non-profit community of writers, editors and readers hailing from various online fiction communities. Some of us have been in reading, writing, and editing for years, while others are new arrivals. However, one thing holds true for all of us: we’ve been empowered to write and share our amateur works with the community because of the unique environment offered by this online venue.
Our goal at Fictionista Workshop is to create a supportive community aimed at inspiring women writers to spread their wings into other genres. Our participants will experience a constructive, encouraging environment and assistance such as story guidance, editing, aid with research, characterization, etc., as well as countless other areas in which this community can gather to help new or established writers fine-tune their process.
We hope to continue that spirit of creativity right here, as we introduce the Ambrosia Series!
With this new endeavor, we want to boldly enable and encourage online writers from all communities to create original works they can be proud of. The Ambrosia Series is for romantic fiction, and will be published by this community, for this community.
We will be offering two Ambrosia Series collections: Venus and Cupid.
Our first category is Venus Collections, which will feature mature, adult erotica ranging between 5,000 and 15,000 words. Actual submissions will not undergo a formal workshop process, but are instead completed works submitted by their writers for publication that will be refined as needed by the Fictionista Workshop community. We are here to help writers create their stories for submission by giving them the supportive community environment, tools, contacts, and resources they need to succeed.
We are not looking for stories comprised of one sex scene after another, but rather the sexual tension and gratification of romantic relationships between characters. The sex in these stories must be titillating for the reader, further the plot, and be original.
(Please, no purple prose. We want to see strong stories that stand on their own, even if the sex were not a feature.)
Romance is key! Venus Collection stories must have well-developed characters with depth and chemistry that entice the reader to like and/or identify with them. Mix in an imaginative and fully realized plot, vivid settings, and clear dialogue, and you’ve got what most of us already write for fun!
We all had to start somewhere, so we hope that this exercise will help writers find the courage to reach for creativity, to harness the power of this community so that we can continue to inspire one another.
The second set of collections are for writers who enjoy romance, but not the detailed nature of erotica. Cupid Collections stories would allow for emotional buildup leading to culmination of relationship sex, a thorough plot, and perhaps longer sensual tension. We want the love for pure romance to shine through the characters, captivating and inspiring readers and writers alike. Happily-ever-after endings and mild sexual encounters would be appropriate for this category.
You may use your existing editor; however, all submissions will be reviewed for grammar, spelling, and formatting by trained editors within the Fictionista Workshop prior to being published. You will have an opportunity to see all changes prior to publication.
Regardless of your participation in the Ambrosia Series, you may still post your stories online anywhere you choose.
