Twitter Tuesday: 07.13.10
On July 13, 2010 we tweeted: It’s the 50th anniv. of To Kill A Mockingbird, so our #TwitterTuesday question is: Do you think the novel is still relevant in today’s world?
Here were your responses:
@truebldtwilight: @fictionistawksp I never read the novel but watched the movie. It’s on my to read list. I think it’s absolutely relevant #ToKillAMockingBird
@77049sma: @fictionistawksp i think it is, the book had a lot of meaning when i read in 8th grade…so i think it did.
@mybookfetish: @fictionistawksp Most definitely. A call for people to take up a challenge and do what is right, even if unpopular, will always be relevant.
@babetteab: @fictionistawksp Inasmuch as prejudice still sadly exists, yes, it is relevant. We must still fight against it by being kind to all.
@ElshaHawk: @fictionistawksp Confession: I haven’t read it.
Here were some responses on Facebook:
Yaya Comas a time to kill was a spin off on the same story…yes, yes indeed it figures into todays world the stage is the same only the actors have changed….need a reminder….2-4 years for taking a man’s life…a black man died at the hands of a white man…how many of these stories are out there….
Yaya Comas it was a first for it’s era and and made a bold statement
Tiffany Madison There are many stories of the same vein, but none are To Kill a Mockingbird. It is a beautiful, poetic novel highlighting not just social injustice, but the purity of altruism and idealism embodied by the noble of spirit. A dying breed.
